FRAMING THE ARTIST’S EYE: Art/artefact x parvum opus

The Artist’s Eye is a project very dear to my heart, a love affair with women artists from history and the power of the feminine gaze. The thought of locking away these special portraits between wearings in a jewelry box felt like limiting the power of the work’s visual and conceptual value, but the question of how to display them in a way that honored the spirit of them as exceptional, individual talismans and portraits persisted for a long time.

This summer I approached the very talented artist Erika Stefanutti of PARVUM OPUS—a sumptuous collection of hand crafted objects, boxes, and pieces of inspiration made from hand marbled and artisan papers—about modifying one of her display boxes to suit jewelry, and to my joy, she said yes.

It was a thrilling collaboration, and I enjoyed every moment of working with Erika on the development and design of these bespoke cases. Each is named for the artist’s eye that inspired them and are available to purchase separately from The Artist’s Eye to display your own collection of special brooches and pins.

Art/artefact is a nationally recognized art advisory and interior design practice founded by Audra Kiewiet de Jonge and known for placing a great collection at the heart of every interior.

Formally trained as a painter and an art historian, Audra’s modern sensibility is informed by her historical perspective—bringing art and objects into context and conversation with the way we live today.

Working with private and corporate clients nationally, our interiors are meticulously curated and expertly built to be high on artistry, but not on pretense.
